Alongside this year’s focus country, BEAST IFF considered essential to showcase 6 talented emerging Ukrainian filmmakers as part of the HIGHLIGHT UKRAINE programme. With a special selection from Kyiv International Short Film Festival and the feature film of Kateryna Gornostai, Stop Zemlia, we want to spread a message of hope and support to the people of Ukraine, artists, friends, partners, and their families.

This year happening at the same time as BEAST, Kyiv International Short Film Festival made a selection of shorts from their past editions that highlight emerging local artists. The work on the Kyiv International Short Film Festival started in 2011 and it was held in spring 2012 for the first time. Since then, it takes place annually under any circumstances.
The festival is also an occasion for artists to exchange ideas and discuss projects. It aims to empower and encourage filmmakers to present their creative work and promote high quality and theoretically diverse cinema. The festival organizes the competition programme, presents thematic film blocks and retrospectives, lectures, workshops and educational programmes and tries to integrate Ukrainian short-films directors into the festival circles worldwide.
